Fire crews were called to Greenhithe this afternoon following a wood chip and undergrowth fire in Greenhithe.
The incident took place in Knockhall Road around 3.30pm this afternoon.
Crews used a main jet and water from a hydrant to put out the blaze and attended with two fire engines.
Firefighters have now left the scene, but residents are being advised that they may spot smoke coming from the site, however the incident is being monitored by on-site security.
Fire crews will return to the property tomorrow morning, when an on-site mechanical digger will be used to break up the 250 tonne pile of chippings and access a small smouldering fire.
