Goals from Jon Wallis and Lee Noble fired Dartford to a hugely impressive win over FA Cup giantkillers Macclesfield Town on Tuesday night.

The Darts are back to within three points of the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs after ending a run of three league games without a win.

On a freezing night at Princes Park, this was a mature display by Dartford, who lost 2-0 to the Silkmen back in August.

Former Ebbsfleet goalkeeper Lance Cronin gifted a goal to the hosts on 13 minutes. His hooked kick fell straight to Jon Wallis, who expertly lifted the ball into the vacant net from 40 yards.

Macclesfield looked comfortable in possession and they went close through Amari Morgan-Smith and Keiran Murtagh, whose header was brilliantly saved by Darts stopper Marcus Bettinelli.

Steve King’s side have an FA Cup fourth-round tie against Wigan Athletic to look forward to, but their impact waned as the game wore.

Noble (pictured) scored with virtually his first touch after coming on as substitute, driving a low shot across Cronin to seal the points.

Dartford travel to Hereford United on Saturday.
