Dartford 2 Newport County 1
09:57, 05 September 2012
Dartford’s fairytale fortnight continued as Richard Rose struck in stoppage-time to sink high-flying Newport County.
The Welshmen arrived at Princes Park top of the table and they dominated early on. When Dartford keeper Marcus Bettinelli fluffed a punch, Jefferson Louis headed wide when it looked easier to score.
However, the home side gained a foothold and Ryan Hayes had a free-kick saved by Lenny Pidgeley. From a Hayes corner, Mark Arber headed goalwards and when his effort was kept out, Jacob Erskine planted the rebound over.
Dartford struck four minutes into the second half. Hayes’ shot was deflected, Erskine headed against the bar and Harry Crawford – fresh from his hat-trick on Saturday – slid the loose ball home.
However, Newport were level five minutes later. Aaron O’Connor rounded Bettinelli and tucked away the equaliser.
The home crowd erupted in stoppage-time, though, when Elliot Bradbrook ran through the defence and picked out Rose, who drilled a powerful shot beyond Pidgeley.
Four straight wins have lifted Dartford to eighth in Blue Square Bet Premier.
