Drivers around Dartford face three weeks of disruption as work continues to introduce the new Dart Charge 'free flow' system at the crossing.

The work will include multiple lane closures, both northbound and southbound, on the A282, with drivers diverted through the Blackwall tunnel to reach the M25 in some instances.

The work starts on Friday and is expected to last for three weeks, but the Dart Charge will go live on November 30.

Work to install the technology behind the new system was completed earlier this year with two gantries erected over the road in May.

This next phase will see changes to the road layout and the removal of booths.

It includes work on the A282 southbound (including QEII Bridge) which will see the booths removed and construction of a temporary road layout.

The booths removed on the northbound A282, where some lanes will be widened to accommodate over-sized vehicles.

At several points over the weekend, the M25 (clockwise) junction 31 entry slip road will be closed for the safety of workers on the bridge.

Temporary speed limits will be imposed and regular police patrols will be keeping an eye on drivers.
