There was queuing traffic on the London-bound carriageway of the A2 following an earlier accident.
Police say they were called at 2.49pm today to a three-vehicle collision near Pepperhill, Dartford, and the A296 junction, not far from Bluewater.
No serious injuries were reported.
The crash initially closed one lane causing congestion back to the Gravesend/Tollgate Services and National Highways warned there was three miles of congestion and a 20-minute delay.
By late this afternoon all lanes had re-opened.
