A town centre was taken over by two dinosaurs transforming the area into something out of Jurassic Park.

The green and brown creatures greeted children and adults who had gathered in Brewery Square, Dartford.

The larger one was seen running towards the laughing and screaming crowd as the handler chased behind.

Jeremy Kite, leader of Dartford council, said: "It was a tremendous day and the dinosaurs went down a storm.

"We are keen to welcome shoppers back to the town and let everybody know that Dartford is very much back in business.

"We do have more events planned on the High Street and out and about across the borough, and it is great to see people enjoying themselves after such a difficult couple of years."

Saturday afternoon's dinosaur fun was part of a range of entertainment at the weekend including singing from Jason Allen, a face painter at the Orchards Shopping Centre and a sold-out book festival at the Darent Suite which proved "really popular" amongst visitors.
