Highways England have warned drivers to expect delays through the area.

It follows problems across the QEII Bridge into Kent yesterday when two collisions – both involving lorries – led to 10-mile tailbacks into Essex.

A statement from Highways England said: "There are currently severe delays of up to 90 minutes on approach to this collision on the A282 northbound in the West Bore Tunnel at Dartford.

"This is due to a collision involving three lorries. Highways England has resources deployed to assist in the recovery of vehicles."

Queues tailing back to junction 4 on the anti-clockwise stretch were reported for about eight miles.

The delays were expected to continue into the evening but shortly after 5pm recovery work for the crash was complete and the tunnel reopened.
