A family has thanked the public for their support after their son was killed following a hit-and-run last month.

Jake Kemp, died of his injuries in hospital three days after he was hit by a car in Bexley Road on Saturday, October 19.

A post-mortem into the 26-year-old's death gave his cause of death as brain injury.

Another man, aged 33, was also injured but is not in a life-threatening condition.

Uran Nabiev was arrested on Sunday, November 10 and charged with one count of murder and attempted murder the following day.

The 63-year-old later appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court and a trial date has been set at the Old Bailey for May 4, 2020.

A statement from Mr Kemp's family, released via the Metropolitan Police said: "Our son, Jake Kemp, was murdered in a deliberate hit and run on Bexley Road in Bexley – he was hit on October 19 and died of his injuries on October 22.

"We would like to thank our friends and community for their support" - Jake Kemp's family

"Between October 19 and November 10, when the suspect was arrested, we avoided discussing Jake and what had happened.

"Now that a man has been charged with Jake’s murder, we would like to thank our friends and community for their support and privacy during this difficult time.

"As we prepare for trial in May 2020, we ask the press to respect our privacy and maintain their distance from our family as we try to move forward without Jake in our lives. Thank you."
