A quick-thinking member of staff stopped a kitchen fire at a takeaway shop from spreading.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the blaze in an Indian takeaway shop in Station Road, Longfield at 6.20pm last night.
But when they arrived on the scene, a member of staff had already put the fire out and stopped the flames from destroying the kitchen.
The fire had been caused by cooking oil on the hob.
A spokesman for KFRS said: "The staff member had done the right thing, using a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket.
"There was just smoke when we arrived."
Crews had to wear breathing apparatus to go into the property and used a thermal imaging camera to check the fire was out. They then used a fan to clear the smoke.
There were no reported injuries. The crew left the scene just before 7pm.
