I've received lots of attention – and plenty of stick – since I scored against Sheffield Wednesday and showed off my new goal celebration on Saturday.

It was my sixth goal of the season and a few of the lads had been taking the mick about my celebrations.

I was so excited about scoring that I’d just go racing off a bit aimlessly!

A couple of weeks ago, I did an interview for the matchday programme and asked for a few suggestions as a laugh. A few supporters sent them in but I decided to go with my own idea.

A lot of people have asked me what I did, including talkSPORT, who interviewed me about it on Monday.

Basically, after a short run, I stopped dead and collapsed on my side.

I’m sure a lot of people have seen it before on the FIFA 11 computer game, where you can make your player perform the celebration after you score. It’s called ‘The Brick’.

Every time my little brother scores against me, he does that celebration – it’s so annoying. I thought I’d use it and give everyone a laugh.

I’m not sure if I’ll do it again, though. I was interviewed by the press after the game and they were laughing at me.

At least the pitches are a bit softer now so there was no danger of getting hurt!

If nothing else, it made people laugh and it was a different mood after we had beaten Wednesday compared to two weeks earlier when we lost 4-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Before Tuesday’s win at Swindon, we were up to sixth in the table, so that just shows you how tight the league is.

We didn’t perform well enough against Brighton but showed more passion against Carlisle United the following weekend and that’s what the gaffer wants. He wants us to make sure that the fans see how desperate we are to play for the club and we’ve done that in the past couple of games.

The other reason so many press wanted to interview me after the match was because the club dedicated Saturday’s match to academy day. I’ve been at the club since I was eight, so I suppose it was fitting for me to score the wining goal. As a young player, you know you will get a chance at Charlton. The gaffer’s shown that with the youngsters he’s put into the side.

I would never want to go to a big club and not play. I want to be playing every week because I enjoy it and that’s what I tell the younger players now.

The Swindon match was the first of four away games in a row, including two cup matches.

The league is of utmost importance for us this season but we need to start stringing a good run of results together and we’re also only four games from Wembley in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, so we have a busy – and important – period coming up.
