Gold medal sprinter and former Dartford schoolboy Adam Gemili raced against the Red Arrows this week.

The 22-year-old said it was an “absolutely surreal experience”, running against the air force planes for a TV show, It’s Not Rocket Science.

The former Dartford Grammar School pupil was the first Brit to run both below 10 seconds for the 100m and below 20 seconds for the 200m.

He will appear on the ITV show today (Tuesday) at 8pm, for the first episode in the series, which is themed around man against machine and also features Rachel Riley, Joey Essex, Ben Miller and Romesh Ranganathan.

On February 20, the athlete will be in Glasgow for the Indoor Grand Prix.

Talking to British Athletics, he said it was the ideal way for him to begin his journey to the Rio Olympic Games.

He added: “The competition is absolutely top class and I can’t wait to face so many top athletes. It really is an incredible line-up and I’m very excited.”

The Indoor Grand Prix has been ranked as the number one indoor event in the world for the past 10 years.
