Does a pomegranate look like a red onion? Pupils at one primary school thought so when they took part in an interactive workshop with a fruit pot supplier.

PrepWorld, based at Court Lodge Farm in Southfleet, visited Sedley's Church of England Primary School, also in Southfleet.

Alberto Moreda, PrepWorld's head of procurement, gave a Journey of Fruit presentation to the children as part of their learning about "People Who Help Us".

They found out about farmers across the world and got to see inside factories to find out how the fruit is prepared.

Teacher Lauren Longhurst said: "The children had the opportunity to try a range of fresh fruit, which also made the learning more memorable."

Alberto said: “It was great to see the Acorns at Sedley's school so interested in fruit; they asked lots of interesting questions.

"I love to see children trying new fruits they have not seen before. The pomegranates proved popular with them despite them guessing them as red onions initially. We love to do our little bit to educate on healthy eating.”

PrepWorld regularly donates fruit pots to schools, foodbanks and charities such as ellenor hospice in Northfleet.
