A landslip has brought disruption to rail services between Kent and London.

The bank has fallen onto the track at Barnehurst near Bexley and has blocked the line.

Rail operator Southeastern says services towards London are subject to diversions as a result, while those headed towards the county are running but will be delayed.

Trains between London Charing Cross and Dartford, and between London Victoria and Gravesend, are affected.

Services towards Charing Cross are being diverted via Woolwich Arsenal. Services to Victoria are being diverted via Sidcup.

Passengers are being advised to allow extra time to make their journey.

They can use their train ticket at no extra cost on London buses between Dartford and Lewisham as an alternative.

The line has been subject to landslides and tree slips in the past and was closed for a week in 2019.

This time, National Rail says it expects to have dealt with the problem by this afternoon.

Passengers may be entitled to compensation if they experience a delay to their journey.

They will need to keep their train ticket and make a note of journey times as both will be required to support any claim.
