A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a single vehicle collision in Princes Way, Dartford, at 3.22pm on Saturday 19 March. It is reported that a lorry had overturned.

"Officers attended the scene and Secamb and Kent Fire and Rescue were also called. A man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

"The incident did partially block the road and the vehicle had been recovered by 7.25pm."

Eyewitness Laura Matthes described the scene.

"I didn't see it over turn but heard the loud noise as I came out of the petrol garage," she said.

"I walked over to roadside and could see many people pouring sand into the road and underneath the engine area. The driver hadn't exited the cab at this point.

"Traffic enforcement officers coned off the site shortly after the driver climbed out of the cab.

"I personally wanted to go over as I am first aid trained but the driver was up and about and many people were already looking after him and the crash site."
