Firefighters are urging families to be more careful in the kitchen after two hob fires broke out in the same day.
Crews were called to Lagona Way in Dartford yesterday evening after a fire took hold in the kitchen area of the home.
A cardboard box had been placed onto an oven hob and the switch was accidentally switched on.
Luckily the family put out the fire with water, but the property was filled with plenty of smoke that needed clearing by firefighters.
On the same day crews were called to a home in Tunbridge wells where a laundry basket had been left on the hob.
The hob was accidentally knocked onto a low setting and the house filled with smoke.
The family managed to escape unharmed.
Firefighters are urging people to not store anything on the kitchen hob, especially if they are electric.
