Residents have been warned they may hear a loud bang when sleeping as the demolition of a power station continues.

The third explosion to bring down Littlebrook Power Station, in Dartford, will happen at midnight on Thursday, April 4.

It is being done by Brown and Mason Ltd and the 10 second demolition will bring down the D station turbine hall, which has a steel frame and cladding.

Spokesman Calum Cameron said: "The timing of the event will coincide with a short rolling road block on the QE2 Bridge, so as not to distract drivers crossing the bridge.

"To protect everyone on site and in the local area, an exclusion zone will be in place before, during and immediately after the explosion.

"The exclusion zone is well within the power station boundary fence and there will be no public access to the area or impact on the local road network. The event will not be visible from outside the station boundary.

"Demolition of this section of the power station is considered to be low impact. Although the explosion and collapse may be heard off site, any noise will be over very quickly."

There will be more demolitions of the site throughout 2019 as it is set to be completed in 2020.

There is expected to be no road closures during or after the explosion.
