MP Gareth Johnson has welcomed proposals for a third run way at Heathrow.
The Dartford MP said: “It is the right decision not only for Dartford and Kent, but for the UK’s future aviation needs.”
Yesterday the London airport submitted three options for a new Heathrow runway to the Davies Commission.
The commission is looking at all options submitted by the major airports and will report back with its findings in 2015.
Mr Johnson added: “I am pleased to see that Heathrow have submitted a number of plans for a new runway.
“This is the simplest and quickest way to increase airport capacity in the South, and I fully support this option.
“It would take far less time and money to build than an entirely new airport hub in North West Kent, which is Boris Johnson’s preferred option.
“It also has the advantage of already having the necessary infrastructure links in place to transport large volumes of passengers to London and beyond.”
