A crash involving multiple vehicles caused long tailbacks on parts of the M25 entering the county.
Three lanes were closed on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 29 and 1A for the Dartford Bridge this morning.
Traffic was held for 10 minutes on the Essex side shortly before 6am and vehicles were seen queuing for nearly seven miles on the approach.
As of 9am all lanes have now reopened and traffic conditions have returned to normal levels.
It is understood the accident happened on the bridge and involved two lorries and a car.
At its height the crash caused delays of more than an hour above normal journey times.
There was also slow moving traffic on Bob Dunn way between Marsh Street and the roundabout at junction 1a, near the Dartford Crossing.
