Two women are accused of letting their sweet teeth get the better of them by stealing hundreds of pounds worth of chocolate from two of Dartford’s discount stores.
Shirley Ann Morrissey, 49, and Laura Joe Pearson, 20, both of Phoenix Place, Dartford, are said to have swiped £140 of Dairy Milk and Ferrero Rocher from the Priory Shopping Centre’s Poundland store on April 2.
Pearson allegedly followed that up two weeks later by stealing £80 of Cadbury Chocolate Medley from Poundworld in the Orchard Shopping Centre.
Morrissey is also accused of stealing a large quantity of meat from two of the town’s other stores on October 31 last year.
She is charged with the theft of £180 worth of meat from Marks and Spencer in Prospect Place and £35 worth of meat from the Co-op supermarket in Hawley Road.
In total, Morrissey faces three charges of theft and Pearson faces two. They appeared at Medway Magistrates Court, and were granted conditional bail, including a curfew, until their trial at the same court on August 19.
