A pair of teenagers arrested over the death of a pensioner at a Kent castle have been released on bail.

Charlie Hilder died at Lullingstone Castle, in Eynsford, near Dartford, nearly a month ago after a suspected "rock-throwing" incident.

Police arrested two teenagers following a dawn raid at a property in south London earlier this week.

Neither have been charged and have been released on bail as detectives continue inquiries in to Mr Hilder's death.

A post-mortem revealed the 66-year-old, from Essex, died of a heart attack following a disturbance inside the castle grounds on May 28.

The 18-year-old man and 17-year-old were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter yesterday morning after police descended on a property in Keston, near Bromley, at 6.35am.

A police spokesman confirmed they were released on bail until July 23 but remain under investigation.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information relating to the incident.

Speaking yesterday, Det Ch Insp Ivan Beasley said: "We are continuing to gather information to help us establish the full circumstances leading up to Mr Hilder’s death and I would like to thank everyone who has provided us with information, so far.

"It remains important we speak to anyone else who may have attended Lullingstone Castle around this time, who have yet to contact the police.

"This includes visitors who may have taken photographs on their phones, or who may have video footage recorded on vehicle dash cams.

"If you haven’t already done so, please check any devices which may hold crucial information."

Drone footage was provided by the public after the incident to help police gather evidence.
