Police making enquiries into death of Dartford mum Sian Hollands after inquest slams Darent Valley Hospital treatment

Police are making enquiries into the death of a young mum-of-three who suffered a fatal blood clot just hours after being discharged from hospital.
Sian Hollands, 25, of Priory Hill, Dartford, died of a pulmonary embolism at Darent Valley Hospital shortly before 10pm on Sunday, November 15, 2015, after going into cardiac arrest.
A&E consultants failed to identify signs of the blood clot and an inquest ruled that she probably would have survived had she been treated properly.
Speaking after coroner Roger Hatch delivered his damning conclusion, Miss Hollands' mum Nicola Smith said she was pursuing a civil claim and would seek advice on whether charges could be brought against certain doctors.
Now police have confirmed that enquiries are being made.
"Kent Police is making initial enquiries on whether any criminal offences have taken place following the death of a 25-year-old woman at Darent Valley Hospital on November 15, 2015," said a spokesman.
"The request to do this was made on April 11, 2017.
"Officers are in the process of collating information to establish whether any criminal offences have taken place."
Miss Hollands' family said they will remember her as “a crusader with a good heart”.
