Suspected hit and run crash in Court Road, Orpington leaves boy, 11, fighting for his life

An 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car in a suspected hit and run.

The incident happened just before 7pm yesterday in Court Road, near the junction with Goddington Lane, Orpington.

A Met Police spokesman confirmed a man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and making off from the scene of an accident.

“The child was treated at the scene before being taken to an east London hospital for treatment.

"He remains there in a critical condition.

“His next of kin have been informed."

The car involved did not initially stop but came to a halt a short distance away.

The spokesperson added: “Officers, London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance all attended the scene."

A man remains in custody at a south London police station.

Court Road has been taped off as police make inquires into the circumstances.
