Almost six months since the disappearance of a pensioner, his family have released images of items similar to ones he was carrying at the time he went missing.

Brian Smart, 85, was last seen at around 7.30pm on Tuesday, September 22. Despite an extensive police investigation, there has been no trace of him since.

His devastated family

made an emotional appeal for his return just before Christmas, but there was no new information.

Officers searching for Mr Smart have conducted extensive enquiries around the places he is known to frequent in Dartford, Bluewater shopping centre, Bexleyheath and Bostall Woods in Greenwich.

DCI Mike Balcombe, of Greenwich Missing Persons Unit, said:

"Since his disappearance, officers have been working tirelessly to find Brian - this work has involved scouring CCTV, using specialist search teams, dog units and the police helicopter.

"We are now releasing images of a watch and a mobile phone similar to those that Brian would have had on him when he was last seen, in the hope that someone may have found them discarded or possibly been offered them for sale.

Brian, from Abbey Wood, is a white man, 5ft 7ins and of medium build. At the time of his disappearance he was generally fit and well for his age.

He walks with a stick and has no money or Oyster Card with him.

It is believed at the time of his disappearance he was wearing a beige or cream jacket.
