Three men have been caught brazenly trying to enter a home during the early hours of the morning on a Ring doorbell.

Homeowner Lisa Ayres was “shocked” to see three men trying to get into her home through her front windows.

The 50-year-old, from Hasted Close in Greenhithe, said: “It was like something from a TV show.

“They just didn’t care about the Ring doorbell being there or the CCTV camera on the front of my property. The man trying to climb through my window even took his hood down.

“I’ve lived at my house for 22 years and I’ve never had or heard of anything like this happening on our road.

“Because the men didn’t actually get into my home I haven’t been left with that nervous sick feeling victims of break-ins have to deal with.

“But I am now double-checking that I lock every window overnight. I usually do but the night the burglars came I was ill and my husband forgot.”

The hairdresser believes the reason her home was targeted was due to the car parked on her driveway.

Lisa explained: “I cut hair from my home and I had one of my client's cars on my drive, an Audi, as they’d gotten a flat tyre and left it here overnight.

“After I told my neighbour about what happened she checked her cameras and saw that they tried another house on our street, one that has a Mercedes on their drive, so I think they were after the cars.”

The attempted break-in, which happened at around 5am on Saturday, August 12, stirred the mum-of-two slightly as she slept.

Lisa added: “I’m a light sleeper and I woke up to voices but they weren’t clear enough for me to know what they were saying.

“But then I heard my curtain being pulled open and I shot up out of bed.

“My husband told me to stop being nosey and that it was probably nothing but then our Ring doorbell chimed.

“We were shocked when we watched the footage back. There was a delay with how quickly the Ring doorbell went off, the chime is meant to sound as soon as someone is near the door, but it was the sound that made the men run away.

“The incident has definitely shocked everyone down our road and now all our neighbours have been installing CCTV too.

After watching the video she reported the attempted break-in online and the police called straight away and forensics arrived soon after.

Police have been contacted for comment.
