Robin's day to remember with stars
00:00, 07 November 2002
YOUNG Robin Adams had a dream come true when he received a surprise visit from famous pop stars S Club.
Not only did the lucky 10-year-old get to meet the group but he also shared breakfast with them and hitched a ride to school to the envy of his classmates.
His mother Katrina, of Colney Road, Dartford, had secretly entered a competition in the hope of landing her son the dream prize. Drinks giant Sunny Delight asked parents to write a story about a special moment their child had given them.
Mrs Adams wrote: "The most special moment is with his brother Joshua who is seven and autistic. Robin performs puppet shows with funny voices, just to make Joshua laugh. It is done with such love and it is so wonderful to see them laughing together. This is the most precious moment I have."
Robin was left speechless when the pop idols and television camera crews arrived at his home. The excitement did not end with a lift to York Road Primary. The youngster then invited new friends Hannah, Tina, Jon, Bradley and Rachel to attend his assembly to answer questions from some of the 400 children packed inside the school hall.
Mrs Adams added: "It's such a mega prize - it's a dream come true for a kid. To see them in concert is good but to have them in your front room for some breakfast is amazing."
York Road Primary head Yvonne Ward was also delighted. "It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the children," she said.
