A Shrek superfan has had a Spotify code tattooed on her arm so when you scan her with a phone the "All Star" song from the title credits plays.

Tymarah Emily Shand, 23, from Greenhithe, got her new ink – dedicated to the song All Star by Smash Mouth – as part of a long-running joke with her friends over her love for the 2001 flick.

The animated comedy about an ogre and other fairytale creatures opens with the pop-rock track that has become synonymous with the franchise.

A Spotify Code is a QR-like tag that can be scanned to access a piece of content within Spotify, and she had an image of it inked on her arm.

A video shows her anxiously trying it out - and thankfully it works.

Tymarah said: "I thought it was so funny and it actually worked!

"I just think the song and film is hilarious.

"Personally I don't think I'll regret it. I have quite a lot of tattoos and it's just a few lines on the back of my arm.

"I've seen far worse tattoos on people!"

She heard the song for the first time as a child when she saw Shrek at the cinema, and has been "obsessed ever since".

The lash technician said: "It's kind of like an ongoing joke between me and my friends that I like Shrek.

"I think we spoke about getting a Shrek tattoo once and whenever we are on a long drive I just play the song.

"I thought this would be better then a Shrek tattoo as it means something to me and my friends, not just a random Shrek tattoo."

She had gone to Sacred Empire Tattoo & Piercing in Tonbridge to get a Japanese dragon tattoo on her forearm.

But before she got out the chair, she asked the artist if she could throw in a small tattoo on her upper arm – of the Spotify code for All Star.

Tymarah said: "I think it will be a reminder of my group of friends and our humour, lots of people get matching tattoos with friends.

"I think it will be so funny to explain to my kids or grandkids what the tattoo is for and play them the song.

"It's a personal tattoo on my body and means something to me..."

"So many people have tattoos about movie or TV characters, I personally don't think this is any different."

After a four-hour session on her first tattoo, it only took 10 minutes for her tattoo artist and pal to add the code.

Tymarah screenshotted the code from her Spotify app for the artist to make a stencil for her upper arm.

She said: "She knows I'm crazy so she didn't even blink an eyelid.

"If they change the software and it doesn't work I wouldn't care, it's a personal tattoo on my body and means something to me.

"I have other amazing art pieces tattooed on me and they don't have any meaning, so if anything I'm more likely to regret them than a tattoo with meaning.

"Personally I think people get super sensitive about other people's tattoos, it's not on your body so why would you care?"
