A gaggle of geese were allegedly mowed down and killed by a car in what’s been described as a “horrific” ordeal.
Wilfdlife rescuer Carly Ahlen was called after the “intentional” incident in Anchor Boulevard, Dartford, yesterday evening (July 21).

She told KentOnline: “I got the call that geese had been hit deliberately, but they were still alive at that point.
“I dashed down to help relieve suffering and see if I could help, but they had all died in the space of the five minutes it took me to get there.
“I was so shocked by the intentional, deliberate way in which someone had caused so much suffering.
“It’s not something that should be acceptable.”
Police say they were called at 5.36pm to a report that eight geese had been found dead in the middle of the road.
According to Carly, someone had moved the birds from the road and onto the pavement before she arrived so traffic could continue.
She checked over the birds, which all had open fractures. There were also feathers and blood in the road, just before the speed bumps.
Carly, who is the founder of Gabo Wildlife foundation, added: “Accidentally, someone might hit a wild animal but to open the skulls of eight of them is disgusting.”
She says The National Wildlife Crime Unit (NWCU) is investigating, and is trying to get hold of CCTV from three cameras on the road.
One person who lives nearby said: “I was sitting at Costa Coffee when a man pulled up in the car park.
“I overheard him saying that someone had driven through some geese. I asked him if I heard him correctly, he said yes.
“He told me he had pulled over and moved them over to the grass verge. He had blood on him and was very upset.”
A police spokesperson added: “The informant believed the geese had been involved in a collision with a car.
“Officers from Kent Police’ Rural Task Force have been made aware and appropriate inquiries will be carried out.”
The NWCU has been contacted for comment.
