Firefighters were called to Princes Road in Dartford this morning after a skip lorry caught fire.
The skip was engulfed in flames at 11.14am, with an eye witness keen to praise the lorry driver for his quick response.
Keith Ingrams, who snapped a picture of the blaze, said: "The quick response from the driver to remove the skip from the lorry saved a bigger fire."
Police and ambulance crews were also called and a man was treated for minor burns, but he did not need to be taken to hospital.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: "Crews used a hose reel, a jet and a hydrant to tackle the fire.

It is not yet known how or why the fire started, but the road was clear and re-opened by 12.36pm.
