She was then followed outside where she was reportedly verbally abused until she got on a bus.

While talking to police, the victim handed over details of multiple phone calls she had received.

She also alleged the suspect had been seen outside her home on multiple occasions and had attempted to make unwanted contact with her since March 20.

Investigators took out a search warrant at an address in Dartford and on Friday morning (April 19), officers visited a shed near the victim’s home where a man was arrested.

Officers seized a small quantity of cocaine.

Neil Letchford, of no fixed address, was later charged with intentional strangulation, stalking, two counts of breaching a restraining order, and possession of cocaine.

The 55-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (April 20).

He was remanded in custody to a further hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on May 20.
