The incident happened at around 3.51pm yesterday and the 13-year-old is alleged to have run away when approached by officers.

It comes after a bag was stolen from a man in the High Street two days earlier in a suspected robbery.

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of the offence following the short chase.

He is also reported to have been found in possession of a quantity of cannabis.

The boy has since been released on bail, pending further inquiries, until January 6.
