On Monday, a Triumph motorbike was reported stolen from a property in Dartford after the keys were taken from inside the owner’s home.

Later the same day, an officer attempted to intercept the bike in Medhurst Gardens, Gravesend but the rider failed to stop and sped away in a dangerous manner.

A police helicopter was sent to locate the suspect and the crew observed him as he abandoned the bike and left on foot.

Patrols caught up with the 16-year-old and he was arrested nearby.

The boy was later charged with burglary, driving without insurance, driving without a licence and aggravated vehicle taking.

The teenager was also charged with taking a moped without consent and further driving offences relating to a separate incident in Dartford on June 4.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to all the charges. He was remanded for sentencing on a date to be confirmed.
