More than 50,000 packets of chewing gum have been stolen from a truck in Dartford.

Police are investigating after five pallets worth of the stock were taken overnight between Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24.

The operator of the Freight business the truck belongs to, said: "It was five pallets worth, and a quick calculation I make it 56,000 packets!

"So even if they sell them at a boot fair at 10p each that's still a big amount of money!

"They have batch numbers on them so if anyone sells them they would be easy to catch."

Police confirmed they are investigating the incident.

A spokesman said: "Police are investigating a report of theft from a motor vehicle in Riverside Way in Dartford.

"It is reported that a large number of boxes of chewing gum were stolen from the lorry."
