The 20-year-old was in Essex Road on Saturday, September 7 at around 1.45am when he noticed a man walking past with his mobile phone.

Arnott punched him in the back of the head as he walked past, causing him to drop to the floor where he repeatedly punched and kicked him in the head and upper body.

The man, who was unknown to the Sidcup resident, was left with serious facial injuries.

Arnott was arrested the next day following a police investigation which looked at mobile phone data, CCTV and forensic evidence.

PC Michael Rake, from North Kent Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said: "This was a vicious and unprovoked attack whereby Arnott kicked the victim repeatedly and continued to do so even though the victim was unable to defend himself.
