A large number of travellers have set up home in a popular park.
About 25 to 30 caravans and other vehicles are at Swanscombe Park, Park Road, Swanscombe.
Eye witnesses said the caravans started to arrive at about 8pm yesterday and vehicles were still arriving at 2am.
One person said: "They were doing donuts with 4x4 vehicles, tearing up the ground.
"I appreciate they have to have somewhere to go, but they shouldn't do this to a community park.
"We have quite a few elderly people living around here who take their dogs for a walk there but now they have nowhere to go."
According to eye witnesses, police did attend at 11pm yesterday but left after about half an hour.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 8.53pm on Thursday 3 August to reports of a traveller incursion in Swanscombe Park, Swanscombe.
"Officers attended the site and are continuing to work with the land owner to resolve the issue."
The park also has a bowls club at one end and a swing park for youngsters.
Swanscombe and Greenhithe Town Council, which manages the land, has been asked for a comment.
