Motorists suffered massive tailbacks after the Dartford Tunnel was shut for a recovery operation.
Highways England officers were called to the site after a lorry broke down and specialist recovery was needed.
All lanes eventually re-opened, but the travel time was said to be anything up to an hour and a half.
Traffic was backed up from J3 of the M25 clockwise.
