Winter wonderland greets morning rush hour
09:09, 05 January 2009
Arctic temperatures and a layer of snow left Dartford resembling a winter wonderland this morning.
The prolonged frozen spell transformed parts of the borough into a whiteout.
Traffic on the A2 and M25 was able to pass as normal thanks to early gritting by authorities, with major routes through the town centre also visited by gritters.
But the cold spell is due to continue.
Weather pundits predict the icy spell will continue, with sub-zero temperatures lasting into the middle of the week.
