Dartford striker Adam Cunnington backed to make a big impact this season

Adam Cunnington has been tipped to make a massive impact at Dartford.

The former Ebbsfleet striker joined the Darts from Billericay just hours before the start of the season.

Cunnington, 31, had spoken to the club earlier in the summer and this time a deal was agreed.

Dartford joint-boss Jamie Coyle said: “He was our No.1 target with regards a target man.

“He’s done well when I’ve seen him play and he won two penalties against us last season.

“It didn’t quite work out but Billericay decided to go a different way with getting Matt Rhead in and I spoke to (manager) Harry Wheeler and said ‘please allow us to have first refusal if he becomes available’.

“To be fair to Harry, he gave us a ring and said Adam was available and we’re thankful the club have allowed us to stretch ourselves and get him in.”

Cunnington, who lives in Milton Keynes, had a good scoring record at Billericay and also did well for Tamworth and Cambridge in the Conference.

Coyle said: “Everyone who watched us in pre-season has been saying the same thing, that we need a focal point up there.

“Charlie Sheringham’s been out for the whole of pre-season, he’s only done two 45 minutes, so we’ve had to get by without that target man.

“Adam came in on Saturday and did brilliant. You can see, even around the dressing room, he’s going to add so much value.

“He was a little bit isolated on Saturday and we’ve spoken about getting more bodies around him.

“We’re hoping that between now and the end of the season he’ll have a massive impact.”
