Dartford manager Tony Burman reacts to 1-1 FA Trophy first round draw with Boreham Wood

Manager Tony Burman felt Dartford’s performance against Boreham Wood on Saturday was the best his team have played for a few weeks.
The Darts more than held their own against National League opponents in the FA Trophy at Princes Park to earn a replay on Tuesday night.
“I thought it was a really good performance against a good side,” said Burman.
“They get a lot of people forward at once, with the two wing-backs and three forwards. We had to change our system a little bit, Elliot (Bradbrook) went a little deeper than I would have liked, but I thought we handled it really well.
“It’s the best we’ve played for a little while.
“We had a really good first half but just didn’t get that breakthrough. At half-time we believed we could win the game and all of a sudden two players have gone for the same ball, it’s deflected in and we’re 1-0 down.
“But we’ve come back into it and Tom Murphy scored a good goal.
“That elusive chance didn’t come but it wasn’t through lack of effort.
“I’m disappointed because defensively we were sound again. When we went a goal down you think of Swindon and Truro but we got a goal back and it made a big statement for us.”
Dartford played the last 20 minutes with 10 men after referee Lloyd Wood showed midfielder Alex Brown to yellow cards in the space of six minutes.
“I’m disappointed with Browny’s experience that he has been sent-off as he doesn’t have to make that challenge,” said Burman.
“It’s easy to say in hindsight after the game but he has just been booked.
“He should realise that and the challenge he has made is in no man’s land. It’s a silly challenge and he has been punished for it.”
