Dartford boss Tony Burman admitted his side lacked intelligence in their 1-0 defeat to relegation rivals Chester.

Gareth Seddon scored the only goal of the game at Princes Park on Friday night, with the Darts barely troubling visiting keeper Aaron Chapman.

Not until Lee Noble came off the bench did they register a serious effort on goal and Burman was bitterly disappointed afterwards.

He said: "There was a lack of quality in the final third. I’m not just talking about the two guys up front, I’m talking about any delivery into the box. It wasn’t good enough.

"We felt Chester were playing a high line and we needed to exploit that. I thought we did at times, but the next bit wasn’t there. It’s disappointing.

"In the last 15 minutes, we had two bigger guys up front, and we wanted to get crosses into the box. But we just didn’t do that and it’s disappointing.

"It needed a little bit of intelligence, someone to get their foot on it and play it out wide or just put a ball into the box. We should have done a little bit better. We got into wide areas but the ball was still being played down the channel rather than getting the ball into the box."

For now, Dartford are four points from safety, but they must now wait to see what the sides around them do on Saturday afternoon.

Burman said: "We wanted to put the pressure on the other teams. But Chester have done that, and it’ll all have a different picture again at 5 o’clock on Saturday.

"I’ll be going out to a game. It’s out of my hands. I had an opportunity, and the team had an opportunity, to do something on Friday night. We huffed and puffed but we haven’t come away with anything and that’s really disappointing."
