Dartford boss Tony Burman has challenged his side to win back-to-back league matches for the first time this season.

Darts boosted their Vanarama Conference survival hopes with a 2-1 victory at Chester on Tuesday night, but with Burman’s men still nine points from safety they’re desperate to get a result at relegation rivals Southport on Saturday.

And if they could follow that with another win at fellow strugglers Alfreton on Tuesday, the great escape may be on.

Burman said: “There’s always been belief but there’s always disappointment that when we go and get a good result, we’ve not been able to follow it up with another one.

“That’s what we’ve got to try and do now. We know there’s a massive gap but we’ve got to keep looking up and hope things go for us.

“We haven’t very often, if at all, been able to follow up a result this season but this time next week if we have another two wins under our belt, it would really set the cat among the pigeons.

“It’s the time of year when there are strange results – you never know what might happen.”

Andy Pugh (hamstring) failed a fitness test at Chester but should be fine for Southport. Jason Brown (also hamstring) remains a doubt, with Deren Ibrahim set to continue in goal.
