Dartford boss Tony Burman wants some of his players to start acting more professionally.

Burman felt Danny Harris was sulking last week and he made the forward available for loan before bringing him off the bench against AFC Telford on Saturday.

Harris made a positive impact but Burman doesn’t want to see anyone else brooding on the sidelines.

He said: "We’ve got to be a little bit more professional in the way we think. I know we’re a part-time club but there are players who have been with us for a long time and they’ve got to now get into the thoughts of a professional player.

"If they’re left out, they’re not bad players. You pick a team to try to win that game.

"Danny’s a great lad and he’s been here for a long time but he’s got to be pulling his weight like the others. I thought he was sulking a little bit and we sorted that out on Thursday. He was excellent in training and on Saturday he had the edge.

"The non-league players around the scene are unprofessional when it comes to being told they’re left out. The professionals respect the manager’s decision

"It’s not to say the others haven’t respected my decision but they’ve got to be men.

"Should they be upset? Yes, definitely but if I want to bring someone on to change the game, they’ve got to be in the right frame of mind.

"That’s what I’m talking about and Danny was in the right frame of mind on Saturday."
