Dartford boss Tony Burman felt his side were excellent value for their 1-1 draw away to Cambridge United on Saturday.

The visitors fell behind to a Tom Elliott goal at the Abbey and were heading for a third league defeat on the bounce.

But Alex Wall's fantastic 90th-minute strike brought the Darts level and they could even have won the game in stoppage-time.

Burman said: "We’re playing against a good side who have got lots of things going for them at the moment - but I’d have been disappointed if we hadn’t got something out of the game.

"That's what we came here to do. We said we’d try to get something, whether it was one or three (points). What I was pleased about is that when we equalised, we still went to win the game.

"The guys have really done well and I’m pleased the supporters got behind them 100%."

Dartford travelled to Cambridge on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Chester eight days earlier.

Burman bemoaned a lack of quality from his players that night but they were much better against the second-placed U's.

He said: "We were really disappointed last Friday but I got a reaction on Saturday. I hope it’s not just because we were playing a team at the top.

"We’ve got to approach all the games in the right manner. There’s a long way to go still."

Wall's second month on loan from Luton ended at the weekend but Burman is hopeful the Hatters will allow him to stay on at Princes Park.

And Burman confirmed that centre-back Kenny Clark was substituted eight minutes from time at Cambridge because he was concussed.
