Under-fire Dartford boss Tony Burman has thanked fans who kept singing his name during Saturday’s 6-1 thrashing at Dover.

Even as the fourth, fifth and sixth goals were going in, the chant of "Tony Burman’s black and white army" could be heard in the away end at Crabble.

It was an astonishing show of loyalty given their team’s plight towards the foot of the Vanarama Conference.

Burman said: "The way the travelling supporters treated me is going to live in the memory for a long time.

"That’s one of the reasons I’ve been at this club for such a long time. There’s been a lot of negativity from certain quarters but when the going gets tough, the true supporters come out and show their true colours.

"The support that the players received from the travelling supporters was second to none. They tried to lift them – and they did lift them in the first half – and they did their best to lift them in the second.

"If we get that for the remainder of the season, we’ll have a chance of pulling something off in terms of getting out of trouble."
