Dartford manager Tony Burman was disappointed his side didn't grab the initiative after scoring the equaliser against Aldershot at Princes Park on Saturday.

Andy Pugh cancelled out Josh Scott's opener to bring the Darts level but in the end, the visitors looked the more likely winners of the Vanarama Conference clash.

Burman said: "I was disappointed with our first-half performance.

"When our goalkeeper’s had the most possession out of our 11 players on the field, I’m thinking 'what the hell’s going on?' Why on earth we kept passing it back to him from the halfway line is beyond me.

"I was disappointed that we were doing that. It’s just something that creeps in now and again - and there’s a time and a place (for it) - but I felt that if we were in a position further up the field, why don’t we get it forward – and not have a first thought of 'let’s play it backwards'."

Dartford were better after half-time, helped by the introduction of midfielder Peter Sweeney.

Burman said: "We went more positive and got the ball forward and started to cause them problems.

"When you get a goal back like that, you’re looking for your team to kick on and raise the tempo because they’ve got the enthusiasm because you’ve scored – but it wasn’t to be.

"We huffed and puffed but we stopped doing some basics.

"We allowed Aldershot to come in and Browny’s pulled off a couple of decent saves. He pulled off a great save just before half-time. The one at the end is right at him but he’s done really well.

"I’m disappointed that we’ve not kicked on after getting the equaliser."
