Reaction from Dartford FC manager Tony Burman after his side lost 3-1 at home to Woking in Vanarama Conference

09:30, 04 March 2015

Tony Burman was unhappy with Dartford's defending against Woking on Tuesday night.

Darts fell behind to a Yemi Odubade strike in the fifth minute and although Nathan Green pulled them level just before half-time, the home side went on to lose 3-1.

John Goddard scored twice in the second half to inflict a defeat which leaves Dartford six points from safety in the Vanarama Conference.

Burman said: "We’ve played against a team who are playing with confidence, full of good players and you can’t go and give them a goal like we’ve given them in the first four minutes.

"I’ve got to question Browny and Burnsy for the first one. The ball was going nowhere and they should have seen it out but they haven’t.

"The second one’s a poor goal. I don’t know why their guy’s on his own when it’s gone to the far post but he is. I thought it got deflected but they’re saying it came through a crowd. It wasn’t the hardest shot, I didn’t think, and it’s not a good goal.

"The third is a cross and it shouldn’t be going in but it’s one of those that gets caught in the wind and all of a sudden it’s in the back of your net. That happens when you are where we are.

"The goals that were scored were not because they completely carved us apart.

"We’ve played against a good side and it doesn’t help if you give away three goals. They were poor goals from our point of view.

"Giving them a goal in the first four minutes is not the way to start the game, it gives them confidence and it puts the pressure back on our guys.

"We had every opportunity in the second half to get something from the game but the two goals haven’t helped."
