Dartford boss Tony Burman disappointed with a 2-2 draw at home to Oxford City in National League South

Dartford came from behind twice on Saturday but Tony Burman was disappointed after the game.

Two goals from captain Elliot Bradbrook earned the Darts a 2-2 draw at home to Oxford City and kept them within two points of the National League South play-offs.

But the boss felt it was another missed opportunity.

Burman said: "I’m disappointed with not picking up all three points.

"It’s not just today, we’ve lost some games, especially in March, where I felt we needed to pick up some points. We really should be in the top-five fairly easily if you look at it over the season.

"I’ve heard the results and it still looks like it’s there to play for. We’ve got to see what Tuesday night’s result is with Whitehawk and Truro. Hopefully the result will go our way and we can go into the last game playing for something.

"It’s disappointing when today’s opponents, for all their possession, only had two shots on goal. I knew they were a good footballing side but once we got amongst them, if lifted the crowd a little bit. I know it was late in the second half but it lifted us to force the draw.

"When we turned level, we should be winning the game. We had a couple of chances to win it but it wasn’t to be."

Dartford dominated the first half but came in trailing to a Matty Whichelow strike.

Burman said: "I thought we were doing OK. I knew they were going to keep possession of the ball, they play out from the back and that was their first shot on goal.

"It’s through us losing possession that they’ve punished us.

"At half-time, I just felt we needed to do a lot more, we needed to get amongst them. We had 45 minutes to do something to get the crowd behind us and get them going a little bit.

"You have to make something happen and I didn’t think, at half-time, that we were making enough happen. We had to put a few challenges in, make something happen ourselves.

"As the game went on in the second half, we did that. We started to close them down, we started to get amongst them a little bit better and that’s where we managed to get back on level terms.

"Once we got back on level terms, the crowd picked up, it was a little bit like the old days and the only thing we didn’t do was put the ball in the back of the net."
