Dartford manager Tony Burman saw his team slide deeper into relegation trouble this week but he’s not about to start criticising them in public.

Tuesday night’s 3-1 home defeat to Woking means the Darts have now gone almost four months without a league win at Princes Park.

They travel to FC Halifax on Saturday six points from safety after Southport beat the Shaymen 1-0 in midweek to move out of the drop zone.

Dartford do still have at least one game in hand over all the sides above them and Burman knows rebuilding the confidence among his squad is now the most important job.

He said: "I’m not going to knock the players. I don’t see that slating them in public is a good thing and I don’t see that they need slating, either.

"We’ve got to move on and try to get three points from the next available game.

"The belief has got to be built up. That’s what we’ve done for the last three games but the belief and the confidence has taken a knock on Tuesday night.

"It’s disappointing that we got a good result on Saturday (a 1-1 draw at Aldershot) and dropped a place in the league (because Nuneaton beat Welling) but at the same time, we can’t keep going on about the mathematics of things.

"One point was a good result at any other time but we need three points.

"We’ve got to now go to Halifax and it won’t be any different there. We need three points."
