Ryan Hayes is getting back to his best and he can't wait for the FA Cup second round draw.

The winger scored one goal and set up two to help the Darts claim a thrilling 4-3 win at Bromley in the first round on Saturday.

Dartford are now on their best FA Cup run for 30 years and Hayes is fully aware of that.

He said: "That’s what we’re buzzing about, the second round, to see who we get. That’s all we wanted, to be in the hat on Monday. People say ‘we’ll take anyone’ but we’d take another team at our level or a league below and see what happens.

"I’m buzzing. It was a brilliant game on Saturday, end-to-end, a proper FA Cup game.

"It was a proper FA Cup feel. Even when we got there at 1 o’clock, all the boys in the dressing-room were like 'it does feel like a proper cup game.' It was good.

"The fans played their part massively. They made the atmosphere brilliant and it was a good day all round for us."

Hayes scored Dartford's second goal at Bromley and Danny Harris profited from two of his right-wing corners to get himself on the scoresheet twice.

He said: "That’s obviously my job in the team, to set up goals, and if I can score, I’ll score. I’m over the moon that I scored. It was for Harris, my goal. I dedicated my goal to Harris. He’s just had a newborn, so that’s for him."

Harris' second goal was a tap-in from a yard as captain Elliot Bradbrook's header was about to cross the line. The identity of Dartford's goalscorers sparked plenty of debate over the weekend.

Hayes said: "He (Harris) reckons he got two but a couple of people have taken them off him! But he definitely got one, so I’m over the moon for him."

There was no doubt when it came to Hayes' goal though. His curling left-footed finish across the goalkeeper from the right-hand corner of the box was a carbon copy of so many he's scored before.

"The left-back showed me in and I saw the far post, so I tried doing what I do," he said.

"It showed at the end how excited I was.

"I missed a lot of games last year and it was frustrating but I’m back now."

Dartford are ball 15 in Monday's draw, which is live on BBC2 at 7pm.
