There was a new face in the Dartford goal on Saturday.
With regular keeper Deren Ibrahim on international duty with Gibraltar and academy graduate Tony Coxall suspended, the Darts were left with a shirt to fill for their National League South match against Bognor Regis Town.
Having loaned Jordan Beeney from Charlton the last time Ibrahim was away, Dartford manager Tony Burman this time turned to former Cray Valley stopper Jordan Carey.
"We signed him a month ago," Burman explained. "He signed on the Thursday, Jordan from Charlton had a game on the Friday night and I had to make sure I had someone to cover on the Saturday.
"He’s training with us and he’s been playing for various teams in that last month.
"I just felt that because of the aggravation of trying to get a keeper in... It’s all right saying 'can you come for one day?' but the next week is the FA Cup. I don’t blame the clubs, they don’t want to loan players out.
"You can only know so many goalkeepers and you’re then looking at recommendations.
"We’ve seen Jordan play, we’ve seen him perform in training, he played against us at Cray in the Kent Senior Cup and I’m pleased for him."
Carey hit the headlines in February when a video clip of him headbutting the post while playing for Cray Valley against Ashford went viral. The footage was shared by Soccer AM and Carey went on the show to speak to presenter Helen Chamberlain about the incident.
Burman said: "He’s had a lot of publicity that he regrets now but I spoke to lots of people.
"At the end of the conversation, whatever he might have done, a young lad with a bit of a temper, everyone said to me he’s a good goalkeeper and maybe he’ll get a chance."
Carey helped Dartford to a 3-1 win on his debut and was commanding in the air, claiming several crosses into his penalty area.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim conceded six goals as Gibraltar lost at home to Estonia on Saturday.
They're bottom of Group H and complete their World Cup qualifying campaign away to Greece on Tuesday.
