There’s a management vacancy in the Isthmian League after a weekend resignation.
VCD Athletic’s first team manager Grant Basey quit following Saturday’s loss to Whitehawk.
A statement from the Isthmian South East side said: “VCD Athletic first team manager Grant Basey offered his resignation to the club following our 2-0 defeat to Whitehawk at Oakwood. This has been accepted by the club and Grant Basey has left with immediate effect.
“He leaves the club in 14th position with ten games to go.
“We thank Grant for all his efforts whilst in the role.”
Basey - who was previously in charge at Cray Wanderers - was appointed ahead of the 2022/23 season following the departure of Nick Davis.
Saturday’s home loss to the Hawks was a ninth game in a row that VCD had failed to win. Their last victory came on December 10, against Ashford United.
Basey quits ahead of the club’s trip to league leaders Ramsgate this coming Saturday.
